Complex
The construction work of the Diyagama International Sports
Complex, which was started by the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Development
Foundation on a 126 acre land in the Diyagama area in Homagama, has been
entrusted to the Army 7 (SEC) Engineering Services Regiment since 2017 and was decided
by the Cabinet on 14.09.2016. Accordingly, this sports complex was taken over
by the Ministry of Sports. From then onwards, the Army commenced the
administration and maintenance of the sports complex as usual from the Ministry
of Sports.
Accordingly, initially 11 sub-projects belonging to the
Diyagama International Sports Complex have been identified and 07 new
sub-projects have been identified under the administration of this Ministry and
all 18 sub-projects have been identified so far and those projects are being
implemented in various stages. The sub-projects are as follows.
01. Construction of 400 m artificial running track
02. Construction of a small auditorium
03. Renovation of the administrative building
04. Renovation of kitchen and restaurant
05. Generator installation project
06. Toilet system
07. Construction of swimming pool
08. Improving the baseball field
09. Construction of Cricket Ground
10. Construction of rugby field
11. Construction of the shooting range
12. Construction of archery field
13. Construction of Sports University
14. Construction of Equestrian Grounds
15. Construction of safety fences
01. Construction of 400 m artificial running track
